it all lives here (for now)

In an effort to address the ephemeral nature of dance, Maxx Passion and Britt Whitmoyer will co-present their Master of Fine Arts thesis projects as a weeklong installation in the Duderstadt Gallery where the audience can enter and exit the space daily.

pre-made/re-made

pre-made/re-made was conceived, curated and constructed by Maxx Passion and will be presented as a performance installation. Her dance work lives on the screen, and among photographs, sculptures and soundscapes made by a collaborative web of artists. New and old technologies will be used to display the interdisciplinary and multimodal artworks; television monitors of various sizes will show video work, a slide projector will display photographs that had once been digital, and tape decks will broadcast a soundscape developed in a state-of-the-art music program. This project explores the liminal space between the digital and the analog by constructing a world where multi-disciplinary artwork developed with new technology can live alongside and inside both contemporary and outdated technology.

Points of Perspective

In Points of Perspective, Brittany Whitmoyer presents The Bones of Your Beliefs, an original dance film composed four ways. In each version of the film, Whitmoyer focuses specifically on the perspectives one has while watching either live or video performance, the relative degree of agency granted to the viewer and choreographer/editor, and how the senses of the eyes and ears are affected in similar or different ways. The Bones of Your Beliefs is an exploration into the complex relationship between dance, film, the audience and what happens when they intersect. Whitmoyer is curious how audiences respond to dance work made for the screen, and how much the senses of the eyes and ears play a role in perception.
